This hotel is 0.9 mi (1.4 km) from State Farm Center and 0.6 mi (1 km) from Research Park University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. Just my honest review. When you stay at Home2 Suites by Hilton Champaign/Urbana in Champaign, you'll be in the business district, within a 15-minute walk of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Hessel Park. If my son or daughter was a Big Ten athlete and you went to watch him or her compete around the league, I would recommend the Home2Suites in Iowa City, but I would avoid this one. If they are booked, I would look for an AirB&B. In this case, I wish I would have known then what I know now. And I even enjoy writing glowing reviews. But be warned that the hotel room itself was very disappointing. So enjoy the Starbucks, the poor man's Whole Foods, the proximity to campus, the restaurants nearby. Too loud, bed too firm, pillows sucked, TV channels subpar, walls and ceiling too thin, hotel too loud. So the room itself was the great disappointment. Not sure if we got the queen because the others were sold out but this room was not as spacious as Iowa City. And this was above one of those white noise, sleeping machines that we travel with. The thin, thin walls and ceiling made it so I could hear people above us way too late into the night and way too early in the morning. But when I am paying for a hotel I expect the room, the bed, the bathroom, the walls, the actual room itself to be excellent. But the people there work hard and did their best. We didn't have much contact with them outside of the check-in experience. Two treadmills, bike, another piece of cardio and some dumbbells that went up to 50lb I believe. It has been years since I have watched TV that was not HD. And NO HD? No HD channels except for the local channels. How can you have a hotel in a Big Ten college town without having the BTN? Makes no sense. This place had a skinny little remote with a handful of channels. No bathroom fan in any hotel makes no sense to me either. Is this a JoAnna Gaines thing? Is this supposed to be cool? Hip? Trendy? Not the privacy that I would prefer because it was just this sliding door that closed- most of the way- but not all the way. They had this sliding barn door type of thing. Maybe a 5 minute drive to campus and that was why we were in town- for an Illini athletic event. This hotel is off of Neil Street which I don't enjoy, but there are many many good places to eat within walking distance. Just imagine Whole Foods saying no we will not build a store in Champaign, IL so some other company comes in and builds a wanna-be Whole Foods. And there is this place called Harvest Market that you can walk to. There is a Pancheros and a Starbucks even closer. No one asked us here and we were stuck on the second floor with a thin ceiling and noisy stomping above us that never seemed to stop. In Iowa City they asked if we had a preference for what floor and we stayed on the top floor. I don't know if they were doing burpees, if it was a CrossFit workout, marching band, tap dancing, or just normal stomping back and forth. Extra firm bed, bad pillows, and we could way too easily hear the people above us. And the experts say pillows are 1/3 of your sleep. They were the skinniest, flimsiest pillows I have ever seen. We did find extra blankets and pillows in the room but the extra pillows didn't even help. We have stayed there before and tried to this time around but it was booked. Personally, I would only stay in the iHotel in Champaign. This may hurt, but I'm going to be honest.
